Summary of Job Duties:The Research Program Manager will serve as a projects coordinator for the Health and the Legal System Lab. This position will assist the lab director in the design, implementation, evaluation and presentation and publication of research, evaluation, training, and outreach projects and will assist in the planning and implementation of the center's research capacity building portfolio. The Research Program Manager will assist in managing overall lab operations (e.g., monitoring and projecting budgets; onboarding/orienting other staff; planning outreach events). Travel might be required. Assistance with grant applications to NIH and other agencies will be an intermittent responsibility, as will preparing funding reports/deliverables. Responsibilities will include intermittent contact with personnel from other universities, research organizations such as the NIH, personnel from state and other federal agencies, local clinical and research partners, and the general public.
Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in any one of the social, behavioral, or health sciences such as psychology, sociology, anthropology, health science, communications, or journalism plus five (5) years of experience relevant to research program execution and management, with a minimum of three (3) years of project and/or grants management and one (1) year of experience involving personnel and/or office management.​

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Must possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Ability to plan, organize, develop, and write comprehensive reports of project findings. 

Knowledge of planning, research, and analysis techniques and procedures. 

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, public health, or research discipline.

Skills in technical writing, grant writing, budgeting for research grants, and preparing online training tools.  Experience with state and federal laws and regulations. 

Knowledge of UAMS systems, including Workday, grants management, and CLARA.   


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

Manages multiple projects, including research capacity building programming developed and run by the lab. 

Responsible for day-to-day management of the lab's research, evaluation, training, and outreach projects.

Oversees recruitment and enrollment of study subject processes and budgetary adherence. 

Facilitates the transfer of information and process of communication across project locations/persons and UAMS. 

Monitors to ensure that all agreements made with federal and state authorities regarding human subjects in research will be kept in adherence. 

Reviews the budgets, make revisions, and make recommendations on how best to manage project budgets and timelines. 

Develops and monitors timelines for project goals. 

Develops timelines and schedules for lab-sponsored education and outreach programs, and leads program coordination, implementation, and evaluation.

Schedules and attends meetings with lab director and project staff, divisional and departmental UAMS personnel.

Responsible for coordination and other activities to promote successful administration and completion of the projects. 

Provides technical assistance, monitor protocols and act as liaison and point-of-contact between lab director, other UAMS investigators, community or other institutional partners, and IRB as needed. 

Participates in publication of research findings, and may be asked to present the research at scientific meetings.  May be involved in supporting didactic development and facilitating development of online training products.

Assists with grant submissions as well as preparing funding reports/deliverables.

Oversees all personnel management, including the hiring, training, supervision, and monitoring of research assistants, project coordinators, and contingent workers. 

Responsible for immediate oversight of these personnel. 

Reviews / prepares job descriptions, assess and evaluate competencies in collaboration with lab director. 

Trains classified and non-classified research staff. 

Oversees each phase of various projects, develop and implement systems for tracking various components of projects, lead project team meetings, manage and maintain research files, data files and research protocols. 

Performs other duties as assigned.
