OMAS is a rare disease affecting approximately 1 in 5 million children, with Boston Children’s Hospital being a leading site in the US for families seeking treatment.
The OMAS Project Manager will oversee a patient registry spanning 6 US sites and 2 international sites. This role includes managing patient enrollment, maintaining the REDCap database, handling data management, tracking finances, and providing guidance to PIs and coordinators at the other sites. In addition to the registry, the PM will collaborate with other PIs in the Neuroimmunology Center to recruit patients for the biobank to collect biological samples, work with researchers at institutions like the NIH, and partner with community stakeholders and nonprofits to advance the understanding of OMAS.
This Research Project Manager will be responsible for:
+ Manages a project or phase(s) of a complex research project from initiation/planning through the execution of the research grant or contract concluding with project transition and close, ensuring a successful project.
+ Identify and use appropriate project management tools and concepts (scope management, planning, budget management, risk/ issue management, communications management).
+ Develops and execute work plan.
+ Set priorities for tasks based on importance and urgency.
+ Deliver project on time and within budget. May conduct and/or support complex qualitative and quantitative analysis of project data, summarize findings, draw appropriate conclusions, and effectively communicate results to team.
+ Manage and direct regulatory/ reporting activities related to projects (e.g., IRB, updates/ reports to funding agencies, etc.).
+ Manage communication to and relationships with key project stakeholders (internal and external) and institution-wide. Compose, edit, and deliver written and verbal communications.
+ Facilitate group discussions.
+ Keep team members appropriately informed. May be responsible or assist in the packaging and shipping of samples to other centers following the prescribed procedures.
In order to qualify, you must have:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management, Science or Business Administration and 5 years of related experience or Master’s with 3 years of related experience.
+ Work requires the ability to effectively manage multiple demands and projects and/or proposals simultaneously within assigned department/division/program and to persuade and negotiate with peer level department heads and/or with external agencies/facilities on issues and projects that impact assigned department as well as several other large departments/divisions.
+ Advanced communication skills, able to balance competing demands.
+ Highly motivated detailed and organized. Demonstrated project management skills.
+ Advanced knowledge of PC- and Mac-based software applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and manual and web-based applications for collecting/ reporting data.
+ Demonstrated ability to lead quality improvement and/or process improvement activities.
+ For research efforts, ability to lead and conduct basic secondary research (e.g., literature reviews) and advanced quantitative and qualitative analysis
+ Experience with budget management and drafting invoices preferred.
+ Experience with data entry and management using REDCap.
+ Familiarity with patient consent process and procedures.
+ Ability to function and identify project tasks independently.
+ Experience using CRFs and managing patient registries including providing assistance to other sites.
+ Ability to maintain frequent and clear communication with stakeholders and collaborators.
