RESEARCH SAMPLING COORDINATOR II

Join our dedicated, diverse and inclusive team of over 9,000 professionals at our new location, Moffitt Cancer Center at SouthShore, scheduled to open in January 2025. This location in Ruskin, FL, will function as an ambulatory campus, providing comprehensive cancer care to our patients. 

Moffitt is establishing a network of Moffitt Ambulatory Centers (MACs), like the SouthShore location, within a 35-mile radius to support its distributed care model and bring our standard of care closer to our patients. 

Moffitt Research Institute is now recruiting for a CTLC Research Sampling Coordinator II in the Clinical Trials Laboratory Core in Ruskin, FL.

 

Position Highlights:

The Research Sampling Coordinator II (RSC II) assumes the responsibility of supporting and performing clinical research sample processing within the Clinical Trials Laboratory Core. An RSC II will have day-to-day working knowledge of routine and intermediate labor requirements and GLP upkeep in the lab and have a detailed understanding of the supported protocols in the core in regard to the preparation, collection and processing of protocol samples. The RSC II will normally receive guidance and general instructions for new assignments, but works for extended periods of time without supervision. Part of this independent work-flow will consist of supporting the Operational Contacts, and their detailed responsibilities of open protocols, in support of core leadership. Successfully mastering these skills and individual assignments may lead to becoming an Operational Contact. The RSC II will exercise judgment within established laboratory practices, policies and manuals in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. The role requires the potential for travel between Moffitt campuses or Ambulatory Center locations to support core services.
 

The Ideal Candidate:

Has the ability to independently apply routine research-based methods, techniques, and principles. Capable of processing and shipping research specimens autonomously. Experience in clinical research conduct and support. Working knowledge in a wet lab setting performing basic laboratory procedures and handling reagents and chemicals. Capable of working collaboratively with team members from other core facilities in the support of a common goal or project.

 

Responsibilities:

Is routinely an independent worker applying repeatable methodologies. May assist with training new employees and explaining the general procedures to Core patrons Utilizes an intermediate skill set and follows established procedures for specimen preparation, processing and storage and shipment of biological specimens. Takes on assigned duties and unassigned duties to ensure a timely completion of service requests form Moffitt investigators, trial coordinators and other external clients. Responsible for communicating with team members from the Clinical Trials Office and Non-Therapeutic Research Office in the conduct of clinical research and clinical trials support. Performs routine data entry and maintains organization of protocol specific and laboratory specific documentation. This accounts for general laboratory maintenance, record keeping, and safety issues based on routine schedules for such.
 

Credentials and Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED with 4 years laboratory experience in academic, industry, clinical, research, or veterinary lab (including 1 year experience specific to a core facility) is required Associate's Degree in Biological Science or related field with 2 years laboratory experience in academic, industry, clinical, research, or veterinary lab (including 1 year experience specific to a core facility)  (OR) Bachelor's degree in Biological Science or related field with 1 year experience specific to a core facility with the ability to adapt and troubleshoot in the daily environment. IATA Hazardous Material Shipment Certification (obtainable after employment starts) Core-specific licensure and/or certifications required. Human Subjects and Good Clinical Practices training through CITI is required.
