**Description** SAIC is hiring a **Research Scientist** for a 100% remote position supporting the Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) research and development program. This role is 100% remote. **Job Duties:** Contribute to the NRL METOC R&D program by creating software to support the development of Navy Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) and Aerosol models to support Navy and Marine Corps operational planning and mission execution around the world. Tasks include: NAAPS and COAMPS Verification: - Verification of data from the Navy Aerosol Analysis and Prediction System (NAAPS) and the Coupled Ocean / Atmosphere Mesoscale Prediction System (COAMPS) done by modifying code previously developed at NRL. ARCSIX Analysis: - Create figures illustrating data from the Arctic Radiation Cloud Aerosol Surface Interaction Experiment (ARCSIX) field campaign. Compare measurements of radiative values and liquid water path with data output from a radiative transfer model and satellite observations. **Qualifications** **Required Education and Experience:** + Bachelors degree and zero (0) years of experience; 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree. **Required Security Clearance:** + Must have an active Secret Clearance (US citizen required). **Required Skills:** 1-2 years of experience with: + Supporting Navy NAAPS and COAMPS METOC R&D programs. + Experience with Python, MATLAB, Julia, SQL, Linux, Windows, GitHub, & LaTeX. **Desired Skills:** + 1-2 years of aerosol-related R&D involving analysis of extinction and aerosol optical depth. Target salary range: $40,001 - $80,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
