Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Scientist.
In this role, the successful candidate The Clinical and Translational Science Initiative (CTSI) at NYU Langone Health is launching the Biomedical Data Science Hub (Bio-DaSH) with the mission of making data science available to the NYU Langone Community at large. Bio-DaSH purpose is to provide data science services, including bioinformatics, clinical informatics, machine learning and exploratory analyses to those groups within the NYU Langone community in need of those services. We are seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatician / Data Scientist to join Bio-DaSH. In this role, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with various research groups to design, develop, and implement computational and data science solutions. Responsibilities include analyzing large-scale biological data, developing robust data pipelines, applying statistical methods, conducting statistical analyses and creating visually compelling reports and figures. The
successful candidate should be proficient in coding, adept at data wrangling, comfortable with a variety of opensource tools, and capable of communicating results effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Job Responsibilities:
Data Analysis & Statistical Methods:
Perform statistical analyses on potentially large, multi-dimensional biological datasets.Develop and apply algorithms to derive insights from high-throughput sequencing, omics, and otherbioinformatics data.Train Machine Learning models using appropriate algorithms for classification or regression.
Pipeline Development & Automation:
Design and implement reproducible and scalable bioinformatics and data science pipelines.Integrate open-source tools and libraries to streamline workflows and expedite analyses.Coding & Tool Utilization:
Write robust, well-documented code in languages such as Python, R, and/or other relevant environments.Leverage bioinformatics and data science frameworks (e.g., Bioconductor, SciPy, etc.) to accelerate research projects.Data Visualization & Reporting:
Create insightful, publication-ready figures, charts, and dashboards to effectively communicate results. Write reports detailing project objectives, methodologies, findings, and recommended next steps.Collaboration & Consulting:
Work closely with cross-functional research teams to define project goals, deliverables, and timelines.Provide consultative support and guidance on best practices in bioinformatics and data science.Continuous Learning & Innovation:
Stay current with emerging tools, technologies, and methodologies in bioinformatics and data science.Implement solutions and contribute to improvement of the organizations data analytics ecosystem.Documentation & Compliance:
Maintain thorough records of analyses, pipelines, code, and version control documentation.Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and institutional policies.Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a MS degree and 2-4 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field. Demonstrated experience (2+ years) in bioinformatics, data analysis, or a similar role in academia or industry. Substantial experience from having completed Post Doc training. Established a record of publications.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $70,000.00-$85,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
