Do you want to be part of the future of high-speed digital print materials and processes? We are looking for a Research Scientist to join our Dayton, OH based inkjet Research and Development team who are responsible for developing and commercializing our core inkjet technology. This role will be integral in conducting both fundamental and applied research focused on the inkjet physics of our core printhead technology. This position will work with other engineers, scientists, technicians, and cross-functional team members involved in the design and development of our commercial digital inkjet printing products.
Responsibilities:
• Perform experimental research to provide understanding of the complex physics of our continuous inkjet technology as part of the writing system technical development team.
• Perform theoretical and analytical modelling of the inkjet physics to explain and correlate the experimental data obtained in the research lab into practical design information.
• Contribute to developing solutions to fundamental problems in extending the use of our inkjet technology into new materials, applications, and/or operating regimes.
• Significant interaction with other engineering disciplines is required due to the complex printing system consisting of fluids, electronics, software and materials.
Required Skills/Experience:
• PhD in Physics or Mechanical Engineering related field, master’s degrees with significant experimental research experience will be considered. Relevant preferred research focus areas include fluid mechanics, microfluidics, drop formation, electric charging, electrostatics, or electrochemistry.
• Demonstrated experience in performing experimental research, understanding, and explanation of complex, multi-physics problems.
• Experience with laboratory equipment and instrumentation, automated data acquisition, and camera/optics.
• Ability to work independently as well as interact on teams that include engineers, scientists, technicians, manufacturing, management, and other Kodak staff.
• Effective verbal communications skills, including presenting research results and conclusions
• Effective written communications skills, including generating theory of operation documents regarding our inkjet physics and technology.
• Demonstrated computer skills, including MS Office. FEA/CFD modelling experience desired.
