Curia provides global contract research and manufacturing services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. 

The Analytical Department is responsible for support of the manufacturing department and external customers. The routine functions of the laboratory are testing of raw materials, in-process, end product, and stability samples. The principal responsibility of the Research Scientist I is the analysis by multiple procedures of compounds. The Research Scientist I is expected to demonstrate proficiency in both the theoretical and practical aspects of analytical chemistry.

Essential job duties

Analyze compounds using a range of analytical techniques Develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope Contribute to the completion of routine technical tasks Interpret basic data sets and provide summaries Conduct electronic searches for applicable methods and related procedures Manage workload and time to perform multiple projects effectively, and ensure all necessary paperwork is completed on a timely basis Conduct laboratory operations in a safe manner. Maintain familiarity with the Chemical Hygiene Plan. Follow responsible actions regarding chemical disposal. Maintain compliance with all regulations at the federal, state, and local levels Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices Participate in self-development activities and training of others Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business

Education, experience, certification and licensures

Required

·       Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related field
·       Minimum 0-1 years’ relevant experience

Preferred

·       Master’s degree in Chemistry or related field

Knowledge, skills and abilities

Demonstrate proficiency in interpreting basic data sets and providing summaries Ability to assimilate previously gained knowledge and experience and apply those concepts, techniques, etc. to new and related project areas Ability to analyze compounds using a range of analytical techniques Ability to understand and use basic risk assessment and root cause tools Chemical Hygiene training Basic understanding of ALCOA Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents Ability to respond to common inquiries from customers Ability to effectively present information to coworkers and management Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables

Pay Range: $57,000

Education, experience, location and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
