Research Scientist / Senior Research Scientist, Chemical Biology & Proteomics

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated scientist to join our Chemical Biology & Proteomics (CBP) team at AstraZeneca in Waltham, MA. As a Research Scientist / Senior Research Scientist, you will be an integral member of a team generating pre-clinical pharmacology data to understand efficacy and selectivity of therapeutics agents. Key Responsibilities

Develop and employ chemical tools and proteomics technologies to provide impactful mechanistic insights for drug discovery projects across therapeutic areasDesign and complete experimental plans to understand target engagement and selectivity profiles of therapeutic agentsDevelop mass spectrometry-based methods to understand drug-induced proteome dynamics and investigate post-translational modifications (PTM)Represent CBP team, and communicate with project subject area leads, and contribute to generation of mechanistic hypothesis through interpretation of sophisticated proteomics dataMaintain and troubleshoot LC-MS system

Essential Requirements

M.S. in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related field (RS), or PhD with 2+ years of post-doctoral/industrial experience (SRS)Knowledge and hands-on experience with sample preparation and method development on quantitative mass spectrometry (relative and/or absolute protein quantification)Proven expertise with IP-MS or chemical probe-based enrichment MS workflows, and experience developing automated processes to analyze large number of samples for MS analysisSkilled in investigating compound effect under biochemical and cellular settings by quantitative mass spectrometry, e.g. PTMs, protein complexes perturbations, etcExperience in determining protein abundance and turnover by using quantitative proteomics technologies, such as TMT, SILAC, and/or label-free approaches and data independent acquisition (DIA)Expertise in data analysis and an ability to communicate data interpretation clearlySignificant external reputation gained through professional recognition, external presentation and publication in high-impact journalsAbility to contribute with a positive, result oriented and problem-solving attitude

Desirable Requirements

Experience in pre-clinical drug discoveryExperience using Thermo Q-Exactive, Orbitrap Fusion Lumos, Exploris, Eclipse, or TimsTOFExperience with Xcalibur, Proteome Discoverer, MaxQuant, Skyline, Spectronaut and DB search engine toolsExperience with liquid handling systems and robotic automationFamiliarity with targeted proteomics is a plus
