Job Title: Research Senior Engineer
Salary: £55,516 + Dependent Upon Experience
Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire

About E&TT
Energy & Transportation Technology (E&TT) is part of Resource Industries with responsibilities for research and development in conventional reciprocating engine technologies as well as emerging low carbon advanced powertrain technologies such as battery-electrification, fuel cells and alternative fuels. E&TT has staff and R&D facilities based in the United States and the United Kingdom and work with leading universities to develop innovative solutions.
Job Summary
This position is based at the Peterborough campus and will be involved in projects related to:
Lead project definition and provide technical solutions for evaluation via simulation and test
Providing product development technical and project management interface to management and internal clients.
Performing data extraction/analysis, failure analysis and problem solving, application of simulation tools and methods, and practical application of theory and concepts.
Testing products, analysing test data and making modifications to ensure compliance with specifications and requirements.
Building, testing and modifying product prototypes using working models or theoretical models.
Requires an accredited engineering degree, with a focus on thermodynamics and combustion.
10% travel (mainly to other UK facilities, some international travel).

Product Testing: Knowledge of product testing approaches, techniques and tools; ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure product quality at all stages of manufacturing. Level Extensive Experience:
Coordinates execution of test plans, including resources, strategy, schedules, processes and tools.
Collaborates with design team to ensure testing considerations are incorporated into system design.
Recommends tools and techniques for automating, simplifying and enhancing product testing.
Compares and contrasts alternative testing methodologies and tools.
Matches testing methodology and tools to product being tested; develops test scenarios and scripts.
Estimates time, effort and resources required for thorough testing.
Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing environment.
Top Candidates will have:
Extensive knowledge of compression and spark ignited engines and alternative fuels.
Extensive experience of combustion system and supporting system design and the thermodynamics of internal combustion engines is essential.
