Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree in basic science or equivalent; 1 year related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous BSL2 and/or BSL3 laboratory experience, DNA/RNA extractions, and experience in handling cell culture and bacterial pathogens is a plus but not mandatoryJob Description:
A part-time (19 hours per week) Research Technician position is available in a Bacterial
Pathogenesis laboratory. An ideal candidate is expected to provides technical and
experimental support to research staff in performing experiments in the BSL2 and BSL3
laboratories.
Job Duties:
Under direct supervision, performs all assigned technical and experimental tasks in the BSL2 and BSL3 laboratories. Prepares a variety of chemicals, solutions, and reagents based on defined laboratory procedures. Assists in performing cell culture, routine chemical and/or biological analyses. May feed, care for and prepare laboratory animals for experiments. Assembles and operates laboratory apparatus and equipment as defined by appropriate guidelines. Conducts routine experiments under direct supervision. Assists with the preparation of laboratory reports using scientific data from experiments. Cleans equipment and work areas, and maintain inventories. Adheres to internal controls and trainings established for the university and department. Performs related duties as required.Skills:
