Research Technician

BlueHalo, an AV company, has an opening for a Research Technician within the Health and Performance Technologies Division. This is an on-site position supporting the Air and Space Biosciences Division of the 711th Human Performance Wing, located at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, OH. The position will support the Microphysiological Systems Team's research projects focused on enhancing human health and performance, specifically for Airmen and Guardians.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills, along with a strong background in in vitro laboratory work. Experience in cell culture and successfully completing research projects is essential. This role involves working collaboratively with the team to perform a variety of assays, including library preparations, barrier integrity assessments, cell viability tests, DNA/RNA extractions, and other in vitro assays. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual with strong time management skills and the ability to work independently. Flexibility and a positive attitude toward shifting priorities and evolving schedules are also important, as research timelines and project focus areas are dynamic.

Key responsibilities include:

Execute experiments utilizing Microphysiological Systems (MPS) models. Characterize and assess various MPS using in vitro assays to quantify barrier function, metabolic activity, RNA transcripts, as well as other cellular functions. Maintain and propagate mammalian and microbial cell cultures using aseptic techniques. Analyze, interpret, and synthesize experimental data. Collaborate with internal teams, external collaborators, and government scientists to ensure timely delivery of research products.

Qualifications:

B.S in a biological discipline, such as Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Genetics, Microbiology, Immunology, or Biomedical Engineering. 1-3 years of experience A laboratory background in in vitro and cell culture techniques, including—but not limited to—assisting with experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and ensuring compliance with safety and ethical standards. Data analysis skills, with proven ability to process and interpret data. Biostatistics experience is desired. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to adapt and perform in a fast-paced team-based environment. This position will work on a US Government facility and U.S. citizenship is required
