Dr. Hassane Zarour’s laboratory at the Hillman Cancer Center and part of the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Research Specialist to work in the field of Cancer Immunotherapy. This is a full-time position in translational cancer research. This position is in a laboratory to collect and process blood and tissue samples from cancer patients, to perform experiments in cellular and molecular biology as well as animal experiments. The candidate will support active research projects in the laboratory, design experiments and new research protocols, and work independently for the performance of the experiments. The candidate is expected to work independently to analyze data, prepare reports and discuss data with PI and other lab members at weekly lab meetings. The candidate will maintain a database to track samples in relation to de-identified patients. Excellent communication, organizational and computer skills are required. The candidate must work well with others in the lab. This position potentially requires that the candidate may be involved in supervising undergraduate and graduate students, overseeing and managing their work responsibilities. A Master’s degree is preferred; specialization in biochemistry, molecular biology or biology are preferred. The candidate should have prior experience in biomedical research, including basic techniques in cellular (cell cultures, flow cytometry) and molecular biology as well as animal experiments.
