The Ocañas Lab is hiring a Research Technician to contribute to projects focused on brain aging and neurodegeneration using in vivo mouse models.
Primary responsibilities will include mouse colony management (breeding, genotyping, record keeping), molecular biology techniques (qPCR, sequencing library preparation), and regular lab maintenance tasks. Other skills will be added as needed to support the research program. In-depth training will be provided for all tasks (no advanced experience required).
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree typically in one of the biological sciences and/or equivalent years of relevant laboratory experience.
Must be detail-oriented and work independently as well as a team player.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and protocols/procedures. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to compute basic mathematical operations, i.e., rate, ratio, percent, molarity, and unit conversion. Ability to organize and perform precise and accurate work when dealing with samples and chemicals.
Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience with any of the following is also preferred but not required: mouse handling, genotyping, next-generation sequencing, qPCR, and/or data analyses.
Work HoursTypically Monday through Friday, 8:30AM to 5:00PM.
