The Air Separation Technology (AST) team has an opening for a Research Technician. In this role, you will primarily support adsorption-based processes, cryogenic distillation, and heat transfer development efforts to advance our competitiveness. Your responsibilities will also extend to support other technology teams, including Green Hydrogen Technology (GHT), in operating and maintaining pilot scale reactors.

You will work closely with the scientists, engineers, and other research technicians for testing, data workup and analysis, troubleshooting, design, and fabrication of bench-scale to pilot-scale test equipment to improve Technology’s capabilities.

This is an on-site role (5-days per week) with working location at our corporate headquarter's campus in Allentown, PA.

Position ResponsibilitiesMaintain safe lab operations, while working with large scale equipment, chemicals, catalysts, cryogenic liquids, specialty equipment, and high-pressure gases.100% participation in safety activities such as leading and participating in design hazard reviews and investigating process and equipment failures.

Qualifications and experienceAssociate’s degree or higher in a technical field such as engineering technology, physics, chemistry, or a similar discipline required.3-5 years experience working in a laboratory environment with experience handling chemicals and toxics preferred.Mechanical competence and hands on experience in design and construction of test equipment preferred.Experience with analytical techniques a plus.Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Perform routine experiments. Some examples include breakthrough testing, isotherm measurements, distillation testing, heat transfer, thermogravimetric analysis, catalyst evaluation, X-ray/ diffraction or PXRD, chromatography, mass spectrometry, and others.Data collection, workup, and analysis in close collaboration with supporting scientists and engineers in multidisciplinary teams.Design, modification, operation, and troubleshooting of test equipment.Handle and change-out gas and chemical containers.Manage team’s gas and chemical inventory.
