The Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Pittsburgh is seeing a Laboratory Technician. The Laboratory Technician will perform molecular biology work, library sequencing, long-read sequencing, and in vitro and in vivo treatment experiments on pathogenic gram-negative bacteria as part of the ongoing research.
Responsibilities include assisting with research experiments, including DNA extraction from clinical specimens, library preparation, long-read sequencing, making bacterial stock, bacterial culture, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, PCR and sequencing, gene deletion and complementation, protein extraction and quantification, polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and isoelectric focusing. Assisting with clinical trial sampling processing, shipping etc.
Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment.
