Job Summary
Research Technician I, under general supervision performs entry level, semi-skilled, technical support research work involving performance of routine tasks. The selected applicant will assist the Feline Research Program with multiple projects involving wild cats and other wildlife in South Texas and possibly other locations. The selected applicant will assist research and duties by undergraduate and graduate students and staff, and overall support of their various activities and needs by the Program and as needed by the Project Supervisor. This position is not remote and based out of Kingsville, Texas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
+ Collects samples and measurement data from experiments. Implements and maintains data collection and summarization of field trials.
+ Collects and compiles data. Computes , quantitates , and extends projections.
+ Assembles and operates technical equipment.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Assists senior staff members in conducting major field experiments and consults in developing procedures.

Additional Responsibilities
+ Conducts and assist with carnivore (ocelot, bobcat, skunks) captures and sedations
+ Assist with non-invasive surveys ( e.g. scat and remote camera trap)
+ Establishment of new remote camera stations
+ Assists with VHF and GPS telemetry and remote sensing efforts
+ Assists with writing and editing reports, articles, scientific posters, and oral presentations
+ Data entry and maintenance of pre-existing database
+ Assist with other aspects of project activities
+ May work some weekends
Minimum Requirements
Education – High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience – Two years of related experience.
Ability to – Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Physical Requirements – Ability to lift moderately heavy objects. Ability to exert heavy force.

Other Requirements
Work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends , not to exceed 40 hours in a week.
