Research Technician I- Dr. Zachary Wills' Laboratory

An exciting opportunity exists for a Research Technician to join a research lab in the Department of Neurobiology. As a Research Technician, you will participate in investigating the neural mechanisms restricting synaptic development and function in brain regions regulating learning and memory in mice. As well, projects related to both Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson’s disease and schizophrenia are ongoing in the lab.

The incumbent will use cutting-edge techniques in neurobiology in order to design, execute and analyze experiments. Experience in confocal microscopy and familiarity with Imaris software for dendritic spine analysis is preferred. Rodent animal husbandry skills are a necessity for the upkeep of genetically engineered mice as well as the execution of animal behavior studies including accelerated rotarod analysis and contextual fear conditioning. Further, some animal surgery experience is highly sought after, with skills in cranial window implantation a premium.

The incumbent will be a member of the Department of Neurobiology, a supportive training environment that includes a seminar series and a weekly journal club. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to gain research experience in preparation for a career in academic science or medicine. In addition, there will be opportunities to publish in scientific journals and present your research.
