Research Technologist
We are seeking a casual **_Research Technologist_** who will assist the Division of Endocrinology. **Specific Duties & Responsibilities** + Perform laboratory tests using techniques including cell culture, real-time PCR and Western blots. + Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments and keeps records for these activities. + Prepare solutions and reagents following standard laboratory formulas and procedures. + Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals. + Analyze and interpret results, summarize, and report data to the principal investigator and other collaborators as well as present findings in laboratory meetings with a view toward further refinement of research goals with input from colleagues. + Use sterile techniques to avoid contaminating lab experiments. + Prepare, clean, sterilize, and maintain laboratory equipment, glassware, and instruments used in research experiments. + Use universal safety precautions to protect self and co-workers from biohazardous materials. + Comply with biohazard safety standards through proper handling of potentially hazardous chemical and biological agents in the workplace. **Special Skills/Knowledge** + General knowledge in tissue culture techniques, RNA and protein preparations, Western blot and real-time PCR. **Minimum Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field. + Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred. **Preferred Qualifications** + General knowledge in the preparation of solutions and reagents.
