About this opportunity
We are expanding the Radio & Spectrum standardization team in our Standards & Technology organization. At Standards & Technology we are part of Ericsson Business Unit Networks to ensure technology leadership in 5G and beyond Radio Access Networks (RAN) by actively driving standardization, regulation, new architectures, concepts, and testbeds including SW- and HW research. We are now looking for new members in our standardization team. This position is in 3GPP standardization and provides the opportunity to work in a team that is focused on physical layer, radio, and spectrum standardization.
When joining us, you will be offered the opportunity to be part of the world’s leading RAN standardization team at an exciting time, just when we are about to start defining 6G. In our team you will be given the opportunity to contribute to shaping Ericsson’s 6G vision and bring it to life first in 3GPP and later see it take off in actual products. The person joining us will work with 5G and 6G standardization in 3GPP RAN1. The focus will be on physical layer design of 5G Advanced and 6G. In our team you will work with very experienced colleagues and will be offered the opportunity to learn from the best.
As part of Ericsson there are many career paths available in standards, research, and product domains. At BNEW TS ST standardization, research and product development go hand and hand and we encourage our people to explore these domains to grow competence and a career in Ericsson. Ericsson is active in all important standardization forums, and as a part of our team you may also have opportunities in adjacent standardization initiatives such as ORAN.
In this role, you will:
Work in an international team of world-class standardization colleagues and researchers with different backgrounds and experiences in developing novel solutions and concepts for future mobile networks. Develop research concepts and strategies, actively participate in and drive standardization. More specifically develop and drive 3GPP RAN1 standardization for the 5G evolution towards 6G. In collaboration with colleagues, perform research, generate simulation results, protect novel concepts through invention disclosures and provide written contributions in the area of 3GPP standards. Evaluate internal and external standardization proposals, and coordinate our view with internal stakeholders from research, development and product teams. Represent Ericsson in 3GPP meetings as needed, as well as in university collaborations and customer meetings. Manage and contribute to industry-related interactions and engagements within Ericsson including product lines, development units, customer units, and ecosystem partners. Communicate results, a very important aspect of the work we do!
To be successful in the role you have:
PhD, MSc. degree or equivalent, in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related. Preferably with a specialization towards radio and physical layer aspects of wireless communication. Excellent knowledge of mobile networks and industry with strong background in radio communication and signal processing. Proficient L2/L3 knowledge is needed to understand the dependencies between the PHY and higher layers in the 3GPP protocol stack. Basic level of understanding of 3GPP device and/or network equipment implementations Excellent analytical thinking with a high ability to understand and drive technical conceptual proposals and solutions. Hands-on simulation skills, at least on link level. Outstanding networking, collaboration, communication, and innovation skills with a strong interpersonal focus Comfortable with speaking in public, participating in discussions and technical debates.
