Residence Director
We are seeking a **_Residence Director_** who will be a member of the On-Campus Living team with the goal of enhancing the student experience and providing quality services for the students at Johns Hopkins University. The Residence Director is responsible for fostering a student-centered community where faculty involvement and a broad range of developmental programming initiatives are valued. Reporting to an Assistant Director of Residential Life, the Residence Director is responsible for the ongoing welfare of the communities under their purview, providing staff supervision and supporting all aspects of the Residential Life program. They will be an active and contributing member of a team of On-Campus Living professionals committed to their staff, students, and the development of community in their residential areas. **Specific Duties & Responsibilities** + Manage the day-to-day operation of assigned residential areas and handle all administrative responsibilities. + Assess the needs and interests of students and support staff in the development of a wide range of programming initiatives, including educational, social, recreational, and cultural programs. + Support implementation of the Residential Life department-wide programs. + Support primary after-hours emergency coverage (on-call duties) to residents and student staff; work closely with the Dean of Student Life to support students in crisis. + Provide assistance to department leadership and participate in developing and implementing all student staff training sessions, including monthly staff development sessions for staff. + Assist with the supervision and administration of Residential Life department responsibilities; take on a leadership role in a departmental area (e.g., liaison with other departments, assessment processes, department-wide programs, orientation, committee work, etc.). **Special Knowledge & Abilities** + Strong interpersonal skills with solid administrative abilities. + Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment. + Experience in mediation, conflict resolution, and crisis management. _Additional Information_ + This is a 12-month, full-time position with a flexible work schedule to include evenings and weekends as it relates to programming or on-call duties. The selected candidate is required to live-in on campus in designated University housing. This position is considered an essential employee (required attendance) and will be asked to be on-call to assist with any university emergencies that affect the students living in campus housing. **Minimum Qualifications** + Master's Degree in Student Personnel or related field. + Two years of experience in Housing/Residential Life. + Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/Graduation Equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. **Preferred Qualifications** + Student Affairs work preferred with related work in Housing and/or Residential Life.
