*UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND SCHOOL OF MEDICINE;**DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHIATRY* *_Associate Program Director (APD) of the University of Maryland / Sheppard Pratt Psychiatry Residency_* *_UMSOM Department of Psychiatry_* *_Associate Program Director (APD) of the University of Maryland / Sheppard Pratt Psychiatry Residency_* This position is a 0.5 FTE position while the other half time will be devoted to a clinical service within the University of Maryland department of psychiatry matching the candidate’s interest. The University of Maryland / Sheppard Pratt Psychiatry Residency Program is one of the larger psychiatry residency programs with approximately 64 residents. It is designed to train residents to be exceptional psychiatrists. Our program provides comprehensive in-depth training in all aspects of psychiatry at diverse training sites in a collaborative, collegial and supportive environment. The training sites an academic medical center, a freestanding psychiatric hospital, various State hospitals and community clinics, and a VA Medical Center. The Associate Director will report to the Psychiatry Program Director. The Associate Program Director assists the Residency Program Director with administration and operations of the residency program, resident teaching and scholarly activity, resident recruitment and selection, orientation, evaluation, promotion, and disciplinary action. *Responsibilities Include but are not limited to the following:* * Ensure best practices of compliance with ACGME standards, including curriculum development, trainee evaluation and feedback, policy development and implementation, monitoring duty hours and trainee wellness, while also assessing and documenting the competency of each trainee and continually evaluating the educational process. * Collaborate closely with Clinical and Research Division Leaders to create and integrate high-quality experiences for learners and maintain and liaise with clinical leadership across sites to ensure compliance with respective clinical expectations at each site by the trainees. * Support the organization of the Program, including the curricula, resident schedules, and implementation of educational objectives * Serve as a Faculty Advisor to a cohort of residents * Support Program Director in optimization of residency program. * Attend regular meetings of residency program staff. * Assist in annual evaluation of residency program to include faculty and resident evaluation. * Support resident well-being. * Promote an inclusive teaching climate supportive of diversity, address issues of inclusion and equity. *Education, Experience and Qualifications* · Current certification in General Psychiatry * Prior experience with psychiatry education program leadership, administration, and teaching in ACGME-accredited training programs is preferred. * Strong interpersonal, leadership, administrative, and communication skills * Demonstration of outstanding academic accomplishments and trajectory which may include innovative educational program development, excellence in teaching, clinical leadership, or research.
