Job Summary: In this role, you will act as a student leader to support a community of residents. The purpose of the Resident Assistant is to promote a healthy living and learning environment by fostering relationships, building community and being an engaging presence within the halls.  

What Will I Do: 

Serve as a role model to all community members and to each other within and outside of the universityComplete the SAXONS Belonging Model:ProgrammingOutside of the required Student Engagement category, RAs must do 3 programs per semesterRAs can do no more than 1 event per category per semester (excluding the Student Engagement category)RAs must do a minimum of 1 event per monthCreate event flyersPromote events in the halls and via emailSubmit programs via AU ConnectComplete post-event evaluationsCreate 1 bulletin board per semesterCreate 1 door decoration per semesterPick up flyers from the main Residential Communities office and hang them in your hallVerify any flyers in the hall are approved to postEncourage student participation in clubs, organizations, and activitiesSupport Living Learning Communities (LLCs) as neededPromote the ideals and be involved in the development of their assigned LLCCommunity Development:Complete 2 Saxon Chats per semester:Complete & submit 1 Saxon Chat by October 15Complete & submit 1 Saxon Chat by December 5Know all your residents by name and room within the first six weeks of the semesterHost community (floor) meetingsBe visible and recognizable in your communityEngage with each resident at least once a weekInitiate dialogue within individual and group dynamicsServe in an On-Call duty rotation:Be in your duty area when on-callSunday-Thursday: Active Duty from 8:30 pm to midnight. Compensation for this position will include a double-occupancy space for use as a single room (where applicable). In addition, the cost of housing is a credit on your student account. (note that exceptions to the single room may be made for unforeseen circumstances). Please note that the Office of Residential Communities may move an Student Leaders assignment at any point to meet the needs of the department, and Student Leaders are not able to alter their compensation package.
