Salary starting at $82,500


The RCD will supervise and manage the essential roles in the nursing department to assure high quality care, customer satisfaction and fiscal responsibility with knowledge of the NYSDOH Assisted Living regulations. The RCD will coordinate the duties and tasks of the staff to meet the needs of each resident, provide necessary medication assistance and enhance quality of life.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assure the appropriate supervision and assistance of residents in regulated housing for a licensed ALR, EALR and SNALR program.Monitor the staff performance with activities of daily living, medication management and personal emergency response.Observe the physical, emotional, social and cognitive functioning levels of residents and coordinate with the case manager to assure retention standards are being met.Inform the physician and families of changes in the resident’s status and ensure that the physician’s instructions regarding care/ medications are followed.In the absence of the Care Manager, assist in reviewing the NYSDOH required medical evaluation and ensure completeness prior to the resident’s admission. Complete the functional assessment (FA) in the case manager’s absence and/ or review the FA prior to the resident’s admission.Conduct interviews of prospective staff applicants and make recommendations regarding hiring based on the position control.Deliver progressive disciplinary action in a timely fashion and maintain appropriate documentation per human resource policies.Support staff development activities that will enhance staff performance.Ensure that medication records related to physician orders, including new prescriptions and medication changes, match the monthly electronic medication administration records (eMAR’s) and ensure all medication orders are signed.Ensure that resident care assistants follow eMAR instructions and that staff assist and document in the eMAR in accordance with NYS department of health regulations.Accept on-call duty on a rotational basis to handle resident and program emergencies.Conduct in-service training for resident care assistants.Ensure that resident care assistants follow employee policies and procedures.Establish quality assurance systems to monitor all care and services for the residents.Conduct frequent audits regarding the nursing program and present results to the management team.Update policies and procedures regarding the nursing department as needed.On-call responsibilities as RN of the Nursing Services

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Requires a current NYS RN Licensure with excellent clinical and assessment skills who is experienced in team building.Supervisory skills must include discipline, performance appraisal, coaching and staff development. Ability to interact courteously and tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, vendors and the public is a necessity.

EDUCATION: 

Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s degree in nursing. 

EXPERIENCE: 

Five years’ experience working with older adults and managing staff.

The majority of essential job duties are performed indoors, in a normal office environment. Employee may be exposed to temperature fluctuations.  


SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIP: The work is performed within established guidelines, and requires periodic supervision. The employee exercises some initiative and independent judgment to effectively perform the essential job duties of this position.


RESPONSIBILITY FOR OTHERS: Employee provides direct supervision of nurses and resident care staff.


SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Shall be fully acquainted with all safety policies and procedures of Seabury Woods. Takes an active role in all fire drills during the shift and/or emergencies for internal and external disasters as monitored by supervisor and incident manager. Must comply with facility in-service requirements.


Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the organization, residents, participants, family and staff, that may be encountered, either formally or informally, during the normal course of business. This includes medical and treatment records, financial and human resources information.
