RESIDENT CLERK OF WORKS (Job Number: HON00036Y)

The Opportunity

The duties of the Resident Clerk of Works shall include, but not be limited to, the following:

Supervise projects assigned by the Consultant (the Architect or Project Manager) and fulfil the duties of a Clerk of Works under the Consultant’s direction. Monitor the standard of workmanship against the contract documents and good building practice in Hong Kong conforming to the relevant BS or Code of Practice as specified by the Consultant. Check samples and related documents against contract requirements and make observations and recommendations to the project team. Oversee contractor's setting out of all elements. Track work progress against the approved program. Attend all site inspections performed by others. Conduct routine inspections of building works to ensure conformity with drawings, specifications, and contract requirements, and report any instances of non-compliance. Manage supervisory staff, allocate duties, and ensure staff attendance. Coordinate with project teams, government departments, and utilities companies on site matters. Maintain a site record of the daily activities on site and submit monthly returns to relevant parties as required. Submit progress, technical, accident and special reports to the project team as required. Monitor all environmental, health and safety aspects (including site safety, hygiene and housekeeping, etc.) of the contractors work.  Report all non-compliance of safety procedures immediately to the contractor’s representative and the project team, and record this in the site record book. Attend progress meetings with clients and contractors as required. Witness on-site and off-site tests as required by the contract and record the results in the site record book.. Carry out inspection of defects and outstanding work at the completion of the contract. Advise on defect rectification during the Defect Liability Period. Participate in site audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Perform any other duties as directed by the Architect's representatives.

Is this role right for you?

Diploma or Higher Certificate in Building Studies from the Hong Kong Polytechnic / Hong Kong Polytechnic University / Hong Kong Technical College / Hong Kong Technical Institute / Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, or equivalent. Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 4 years' experience in the capacity of Assistant Clerk of Works or equivalent in universities/ public works projects or those projects listed in Section 4.5.2 of the Management Handbook Language proficiency meeting Level 2* or above in English Language and Chinese Language in Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) / Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE), or equivalent.
