RESIDENT ENGINEER: (CA Professional Engineer License (PE) is required)
Has performed all functions and responsibilities of an RE in administering assigned construction contracts on highway/road projects as follows:
Contract administration and construction management services work.Testing procedures to ensure that deliverables are clearly defined, acceptance tested and that criteria are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound; and that the deliverables satisfy the acceptance tests and criteria. Maintaining and organizing project files for record tracking and auditing.Developing, organizing, facilitating, and attending coordination meetings.Implementing and maintaining quality control procedures to manage conflicts, ensure product accuracy, and identify critical reviews and milestones.All applicable safety measures required.Invoice requirements for accuracy and completion before requesting Caltrans approval.Monitoring and maintaining required DBE or DVBE involvement.Compliance of the provisions in this Contract and all specific Task Order requirements.Familiarity with prevailing wage issues and requirements of State of California.Reviewing the Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules and providing expert comments.Health and safety of personnel working in a hazardous environment in accordance with all applicable Federal, State, and Local regulations.Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documentsMaintain accurate daily records of the contractor's daily activities and the work performed, and of the labor, equipment and materials usedReview construction materials for Contract complianceTrack quantities and develop pay estimates for acceptanceAttend and/or chair construction progress meetingsConduct observations of the installation and acceptance testing of completed equipment and systemsIdentify nonconforming work, develop project punchlists and maintain until correctedDevelop record documentation for engineer review/acceptanceAssist with project audit/closeoutWork under general supervision of a Design Project ManagerSupervise and direct the activities of junior Resident Project Representatives and Construction Inspectors, testing services and subconsultantsPerform other duties as neededRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Technology, or combination of education and relevant experience A minimum of 5 years progressive construction experience on multidisciplinary projects Must have a fundamental understanding of contracts and familiarity with codes and laws governing construction Must possess the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents Must be able to work in a team environment Must be computer literate, experience with Microsoft Office, Primavera, or related construction packages Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a mustWhat We Believe
