Reporting to the Manager of Advanced Services, this is a highly technical role, The Resident Engineer plays a key role in the overall support strategy for our customers. The Resident Engineer is a technical expert and trusted advisor who helps the customer achieve their network's vision. The Resident Engineer works daily with the customer remotely and is expected to provide expertise on Juniper products deployed or to be deployed within the customer’s network and provide technical and operational support on network issues, ongoing certification, and testing efforts. Strong communication skills across all levels of technical understanding are a must.
The position will be remote with occasional on-site travel.
Responsibilities:
Technical support to the customer may require the Resident Engineer to:
Understand the customer’s organizational structure and become familiar with the customer’s network implementation and support processes and procedures to help in designing a network that is available and sustainable. To hold network information gathering workshops with the Customer to understand the Customer’s existing network design and technical requirements of new network designs. Carry out testing of new tools, features, and functionality as required by the customer in a laboratory environment and to help develop plans to implement and verify that they are operating correctly in the live network. Test patches and fixes to operating software to ensure that they are implemented and functioning correctly in the pre-production test network and then live network as implementation plans dictate. Build and execute Test Plans and Certification support for new equipment deployment. Support ongoing efforts to define best practice policies for Juniper product applications the customer uses. To peer with other employees performing similar Resident Engineering roles where lessons learned may help minimize the risk associated with major network upgrades or changes in the network. The RE will be expected to develop secondary skills in other products in the Juniper product portfolio.Focal Technologies:
JUNOS CLI experience across Junos and Junos-Evo platforms (e.g., MX, PTX, ACX, etc.) An understanding of the protocols surrounding IP service provider networks. These skills include but are not limited to: IP/Routing experience (OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS-TE, RSVP, LDP, IPv6, Routing Policy, etc.) VPNs and the associated tunneling technologies (EVPN, L3VPN, VPLS, etc.) An understanding of subscriber management functionality (e.g., DHCP, PPPoE) Must be able to communicate effectively and technically with internal Support, Escalation, and Engineering teams. Automation experience (e.g., Python, etc.) Spirent/Ixia experience is a plus. Familiarity with Nokia Deepfield and Nokia BNG is a plusMinimum Qualifications:
4+ years of related experience BS (or equivalent experience) Broad networking product and protocol knowledge and expertise.Other Information:

Minimum Salary: $108,160.00
Maximum Salary:$155,480.00
The pay range for this position is expected to be between $108,160.00 and $155,480.00/year; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, vacation, sick time, and parental leave. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

Juniper’s pay range data is provided in accordance with local state pay transparency regulations. Juniper may post different minimum wage ranges for permanent residency petitions pursuant to US Department of Labor requirements.
