This position provides direct service to low-income residents who reside in MDHA properties and the Metropolitan area, participate in rental assistance programs, or maintain current standing on any MDHA housing waiting list. The coordinator promotes family stabilization, through services and programing which promotes health, responsible living, non- homelessness/eviction instills self-sufficiency. Initiates and conducts various programs and activities for youth, elderly and special populations. Conducts short-term counseling for individuals and families, i.e., issues related to eviction prevention, lease enforcement, and many other social issues such as domestic violence, truancy, and crisis intervention. Resident Services Coordinators must be able to define barriers to social, economic, educational, and physical barriers to obtaining or maintaining self- sufficiency and the skill to address them through an exhaustive service delivery network Conducts home visits as necessary to mitigate family service needs. Forms partnerships with service providers to improve services to the target population. Initiates and/or participates in meetings and other forums with MDHA staff to coordinate resolution of issues and resident problems, as necessary.
The Resident Services Coordinator may serve a segment, portion or the MDHA housing community at-large. Resident Services Coordinators will conduct resident client assessments as needed and when possible. This position may serve residents via short-term information and referral service or via long-term case management to a small client caseload. Typical Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Conducts client assessments to arrive at solutions to problems and provide well placed referral services
• Responds to crisis situations; makes referrals to community resources
• Works with other MDHA departments to coordinate services for residents and resolve client crisis.
• Assess community needs and develops resources and programs to address these needs
• Plans and implements group activities and programs for adults and youth that enhance self-esteem, self-sufficiency
• Coordinates on-site services provided by other agencies, networks with community agencies
• Assists with grant writing; organizes service data, including enrollment numbers, and client assessment results
• Attends meetings, maintain records and prepares reports
• Assists residents with requested resources such as utility, rent, drug rehabilitation, food, etc.
• Coordinates community events with supervisor, Property Managers and Maintenance Supervisors
• Conducts housekeeping inspections and encourages ongoing housekeeping skills
• Conferences with Property Manager regarding resident conflicts including lease violations
• Hosts food distributions for residents
• Makes referrals for domestic violence services
• Other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, a behavioral science or related field, plus four (4) years of experience in social services or a similar area.

LICENSE REQUIRED
Valid Tennessee driver's license.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Behavioral Skills:
Knowledge of methods and principals involved in social assessment and treatment; an understanding of individual and group behavior; ability to establish meaningful relationship with clients on an individual and group basis; knowledge of community resources; knowledge and understanding of child development, the aging process, and substance abuse.
Technical Skills:
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; ability to plan and implement program activities; ability to direct the work of others; ability to deal tactfully with the public; willingness and mental and physical ability to perform the duties in this classification
Physical Skills:
Ability to perform work with or without an accommodation that requires sitting, standing, and walking, dexterity of hands, clarity of vision, speech, hearing and powers of observation; other physical duties as required.
