Duties/Responsibilities:
Supervises residential program and ensures that student needs are met in a timely professional manner.Ensures orderly and clean-living conditions are maintained in dormitories, while promoting self-discipline and an awareness of others by modeling, mentoring, and monitoring staff and student behavior according to the Career Success Standards. Oversees social skills and student leadership sessions and provides guidance as appropriate.Assists students in handling special problems and conducts dormitory meetings, including collaboration with other departments when necessary to ensure that student issues and concerns are addressed and resolved in a timely fashion. Conducts regular audits of student Residential files. Facilitates prompt and appropriate assistance to students in the event of injury, illness, emotional trauma, arrest, trouble at home and other traumatic experiences.Qualifications:
Minimum: High School Diploma or High School Equivalency and two years’ experience working with youth and young adults.
Preferred: Minimum plus previous Job Corps experience.
Knowledge: Ability to effectively communicate with and relate to disadvantaged youths. Must be able to obtain a State driver’s license. Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/1st Aid & AED certification. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to inspire and motivate staff, and model professional behaviors to set the standard for how students and staff should conduct themselves on a consistent basis.
