Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. We are two of New York City’s leading human services organizations meeting the needs of children, youth and families, homeless individuals, and older adults through-out Manhattan and New York City. Baxter Safe Haven is a transitional housing residence for unsheltered adults. Goddard Riverside Community Center is committed to building community and enhancing the lives of vulnerable New Yorkers by meeting essential human needs. Purpose of Position: Assist tenants in the development of daily independent living skills, including assisting with laundry, personal hygiene and providing meals • Maintain attendance and monitor status of clients • Receive meal deliveries and maintain kitchen • Perform client intakes and provide an orientation of the facility at check in • Document intakes, bed swaps, attendance and incident reports via CARES. Schedule:Sunday - Thursday 7:00 am to 3:00 pm Salary Range:$31,154-$38,955 Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties Roles, Responsibilities and Essential Duties + Perform daily room and bed inspections + Escort client to appointments + Assist in the monitoring and development of resident’s daily independent living skills + Provide resident welcome kits and toiletry items + Perform nightly bed counts + Conduct groups with clients + Heat and serve meals + Conflict resolution between residents + Manage operations desk + Answer phones when necessary + Help maintain the cleanliness of the building + Monitor common areas to ensure proper usage + Work collaboratively with building staff to assist tenants and ensure tenant safety. Qualifications/Educational Requirements + High School Diploma or GED required. Associates Degree preferred + 1 year of applicable experience in shelter or residential setting + Passion for working with individuals and families who are in transitional housing + Excellent communication skills, comfortable working with others + Ability to maintain accurate records, to prepare and submit all required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner Knowledge of DHS requirements and protocols + Ability to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy and discretion + Must be able to multi task with strong organizational skills + Food Protection Certificate will be required + Driver’s License preferred + Bilingual is a plus Skills, Knowledge and Abilities + Prior work experience with homeless/ mentally ill individuals is helpful, but not required + Computer Literate + Highly organized + Strong communication skills + Detail orientated and systems savvy + Compassionate and personable + Team-orientated Computer Skills:To perform this job successfully, an individual should be: + Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, OneDrive, Excel, etc. + Ability to learn multiple databases including CARES. Physical Requirements & Work Environment: + Frequent bending, kneeling, walking, climbing and lifting to 50 lbs. + Work within a temporary residential building. + Designated kitchen area to serve food. + Visits to client rooms + Indoor office + Facility grounds + Escort residents to appointments + Outdoor work required Note: + In addition, the Agency may, in its discretion, require Residential Aides and other employees with coverage responsibility at the Baxter Safe Haven residence in Queens to stay at their posts until their relief arrives and takes over coverage, with the understanding that where, for this reason, an employee works or is going to work more than their regularly scheduled number of hours on one day of a pay period, the Agency may adjust the employee’s schedule: + For the same number of hours on some other day(s) during the same work week, when possible, or + At the rate of one hour less for each hour worked in excess of 35 and up to 40, and one and one-half hours less for any hour worked in excess of 40, during the second week of the pay period. This position is classified as a union position under the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Goddard Riverside and the United Service Workers Union Local 74 Collective Bargaining Unit. The union represents employees in the bargaining unit (i.e. Goddard employees in Local 74 union positions). The Collective Bargaining Agreement is a written contract that defines the agreed-upon terms and conditions of employment, including wage increases, paid time off and other benefits, and the grievance process. All employees in Local 74 union positions at Goddard Riverside are subject to and covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Membership in the union includes the collection of union dues on a monthly basis, to be deducted from the member’s Goddard paycheck at a rate to be determined by the union.
