Resort - Safari VIP Tour Guide

Summary: A Resort - Safari VIP Tour Guide is responsible for providing exceptional customer service, education, and experiences to resort guests while on their VIP encounters through our Safari Property.

 

Responsibilities:

Courteously welcome all guests and provide excellent service to ensure guest satisfaction. Prepare all tour needs for the day – vehicles, food, guest information, etc. Learn, memorize, and retain educational facts on the Wild Safari Animals and property. Educate guests on animals and ensure all animal interactions are being accomplished in a safe manner. Adhere to house rules, departmental policies, and safety standards at all times. Communicate rules and safety policies clearly with guests and ensure they are being followed at all times throughout the tour. Use problem-solving skills to professionally handle any guest issue, question, or concern. Communicate with other departments to address any tour requests or concerns. Be able to conduct multiple tours a day. Monitor exhibits to ensure safety of animals and guests. Transport guests around the safari property in vehicles that may carry up to 15 passengers. Maintain proper timing and ensure all guests tours are completed within the time frame provided. Assist the resort transportation team with shuttling and checking in/out guests when tours are not booked. Support our Save an Icon conservation initiative by communicating the program to guests. Maintain clean and sanitary vehicles and work areas. Respect Six Flags’ property, equipment, trainers, team members, and supervisors. Adhere to all Six Flags and departmental policies, including but not limited to attendance, punctuality, and grooming guidelines. Report any animal abnormalities or abnormal park conditions to the appropriate person in that area. Effectively and professionally communicate on radio maintaining clear and concise transmissions. Safely operate a vehicle in an off-road situation, while providing animals the right of way. Assist guests’ with moving their luggage to and from their cars and rooms.

Qualifications:

18 years or older. Valid driver’s license in good standing and ability to pass the Six Flags driving test. Must be comfortable around a variety of animals and public speaking. Must have general computer knowledge. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions for extended periods of time. Must be a friendly, outgoing “people” person with a good attitude and smile. Previous experience working with the public in a service or zoological industry preferred. Knowledgeable of hotel and safari property. Possess ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Possess ability to remain calm and professional in all situations. Knowledgeable in all hotel, Theme Park, Water Park, and Safari hours of operation & offerings. Must be able to work mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, and other shifts as necessary. Able to communicate effectively in the English language, including the ability to read, speak, write, and comprehend. Must maintain a strong commitment to safety. Able to work around a variety of different animals.

Physical Demands:

May be required to stand, sit, kneel, bend, and/or crouch for extended periods of time. Moderate walking to and from the vehicles, base, resort, and animal areas and from personal car to base in all weather conditions. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. This includes pulling and pushing gates in safari as well as handling guests’ luggage. May be regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and outdoor weather conditions including extreme cold or heat. Noise level of the work environment is moderate. Must be able to work in close proximity to animal ambassadors.
