Serves as Clinical Resource for area of Specialty

Job Summary: Serves as clinical resource for area of specialty, evaluating current practices, making appropriate recommendations and coordinating implementation of new policies, procedures and/or equipment. Provides, coordinates evidence based practice.

Minimum Education: Has completed the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing, and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.

Work Experience: 1 - 2 years related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways. Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Serves as clinical resource for area of specialty. Evaluates current practice and makes appropriate recommendations. Provides individual consultations and instruction. Assists with development/revision of policies, procedures and unit protocols. Coordinates the evaluation/implementation of new equipment. Acts as a positive leader, clinical role model and innovator. Collaborates with the Clinical Manager and nursing staff to develop staff and department goals related to nursing practice and education. Coordinates unit orientation as needed. Mentor new staff members. Participates in problem resolution on unit. Communicates with staff, patients, and families to identify and resolve problems. Communicates appropriately with Administrative Supervisor and/or ancillary departments. Communicates unit activities to Clinical Manager consistently and appropriately. Provides, coordinates evidence based practice. Contributes to and supports staff in developing and implementing best practices. Ensures that the plan of care reflects collaboration with other health care team members. Contributes to and supports staff in developing individualized care/treatment plan. Participates in performance improvement activities on unit. Assists with patient outcome monitoring. Provides in-services for correction on identified problems. Serves on CQI teams as needed. Assumes responsibility for own professional growth.

Decision Making: The carrying out of non-routine procedures under constantly changing conditions, in conformance with general instructions from supervisor.

Working Relationship: Coordinates activities of others (does not supervise). Has input on performance evaluations but does not prepare or give. Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
