Overview

As a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) at CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake,  you’ll join a team who share your passion in caring for patients experiencing breathing issues. Our Respiratory Therapists are highly trained when it comes to delivering efficient adult, pediatric, and neonatal respiratory care with adult ventilator expertise including CPAP & Bipap in all areas.

Your success in this role comes from a blend of your keen assessment skills and a sense of urgency. You have the ability to remain calm and focused in emergent situations. Your critical thinking skills enhance your care plans as you know what to do as well as the expected outcomes. 

Additional skills needed for this role include excellent organizational and prioritization skills. The ability to work alone and capability of meeting the physical and emotional demand of the position.   Proficient with computers and computer applications used in the healthcare setting, and the ability to demonstrate strong communication in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

Assess and evaluate of the appropriateness and effectiveness of therapy based on patient’s age, cognitive and physical abilities, and/or developmental needsMake recommendations for changes in specific modes of therapyEducates patients and arranges home respiratory care services and patient therapy follow-up assessments using language and materials appropriate for age, cognitive and physical abilities, and/or developmental needsAssumes responsibility for personal and professional growth through participation in department meetings, in-service programs and continuing education programsMaintains established department policies, procedures and objectives, concerning quality assurance, safety, environmental conditions and infection control
Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor Degree in Respiratory Therapy.Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).

Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the state of ND. (RESP-LIC:ND)

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Preferred:

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
