Responsibilities

CHI St. Alexius is looking for PRN Respiratory Therapists to join the team!

The Respiratory Therapist will provide and coordinate high quality Respiratory Therapy upon the order of a licensed physician to promote the health and recovery of patients served by the St. Alexius Medical Center.

What You'll Do:

Identifies problems, determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives and to make recommendations.

Update respiratory therapy job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Employ evidence-based practice.  Integrate best research with clinical expertise and patient values for optimum care, and participate in learning and research activities to the extent feasible.

Performs basic and intensive respiratory therapies, including but are not limited to; aerosol therapy, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, oxygen therapy, diagnostics, patient/family education, invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, patient transport, mechanical ventilation management, hemodynamic monitoring, airway management, capnography, rapid response team member,  inhaled nitric oxide. Drawing, analyzing and reporting results from arterial, venous, capillary and spinal fluid samples for Point of Care testing.

 Actively participates in daily patient rounds.

Communicates key components of current patient status for an efficient and effective transition of care from each respiratory therapy shift change.

Works as a physician extender to assess, manage, treat and perform diagnostic/therapeutic evaluation of patients with cardiopulmonary conditions.

Knows, understands, and adheres to our policies and procedures, especially those related to mediations, safety and emergency preparedness.

Uses Respiratory Therapy Protocols to develop therapeutic goals and formulate care plans for patients.

Provide life-enhancing, life-supporting quality care to the elderly, adult, adolescent, children and infant patient populations.


Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited/AMA certified School of Respiratory Therapy.  An Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy is preferred.

Licensure: Licensed with the North Dakota State Board of Respiratory Care.
