The Respiratory Therapist examines patients with breathing-related conditions and conducts diagnostic testing.  Consults with physicians to develop and implement a treatment plan for the patient.  Performs physiotherapy and other treatments and teaches patients to use medications.

Reports to: Director Respiratory Care & Neurodiagnostic Services


Minimum Education
Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy - Required

Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Computer skills required.

Certifications:
BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Required to be current upon hire.

ACLS & PALS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) - Required within 12 months of employment, if not current upon hire

NRP certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) - Required within 12 months of employment, if not current upon hire

Required Skills
Licenses: Licensed by the State of Tennessee as a Respiratory Care Practitioner with ABG endorsement. Temporary initial licensure letter by the State of Tennessee as a graduate respiratory care practitioner, acceptable, without ABG endorsement, until state licensure is issued.

Minimum Work Experience
Minimum of 6 months Respiratory Care experience preferred
