Respiratory Therapist Graduate
Overview Summary Provides respiratory care using critical thinking skills learned and refined through education to become a Respiratory Therapist. A Respiratory Therapist graduate demonstrates competency by either obtaining a state-issued Work Permit authorizing them to practice as a Respiratory Therapist, or by successfully passing the written examination administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) with the required score to be a credentialed therapist. Graduate Respiratory Therapists assesses and evaluate results and implements complex methods of providing care. Participate in the delivery of care and function as a specialty clinical resource for other caregivers, provide a caring relationship towards patients that facilitates health and healing. Perform other job duties as assigned. This position is for applicants who are within 12 months of graduating from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program and are awaiting completion of their Certification and Registry examinations. A state-issued temporary license or Work Permit for Mississippi must be present upon hire date; to allow the applicant to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner for up to six months or until the credentialing examination is successfully completed, whichever comes first. Responsibilities · Assesses the patient · Develops the plan of care in conjunction/collaboration with a licensed RRT level therapist · Implements the plan of care · Evaluates the plan of care · Administers medications as prescribed · Provides patient, family, and/or significant other health teaching/education · Participates in activities designed to improve health care delivery · Communicates/collaborates with others in providing patient care · Supports life-long learning · Completes assigned goals Other Information Academic and clinical preparation completed within the past 12 months. MS-proof of completion of academic and clinical preparation in a respiratory care program approved by CAAHEP in collaboration with CoARC or their successor.
