Respiratory therapist assists in the treatment, and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Collects and analyzes sputum, blood and breathing specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide, and other gases. Administers treatment prescribed by a physician for the care of patients with abnormalities associated with the process of breathing. Performs technical work in the application of respiratory therapy procedures and protocols. Interacts with physicians, nurses, and others to facilitate and promote optimal patient care
As a successful candidate, you will:
· Set up and administer respiratory treatments as ordered by the physician, charting patient response and progress.· Monitor patients and equipment during rounds, adjusting as necessary to ensure proper care.· Perform EKGs, arterial blood gases, and assess ventilator patients, documenting key observations.· Assist with basic life support and CPR during emergencies.· Participate in fire, safety, and CPR training programs to maintain certification.· Ensure compliance with department policies, procedures, and quality assurance standards.· Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments and therapy, documenting responses.· Maintain and care for department equipment and supplies, participating in professional development activities.Qualifications
Your qualifications should include:
Minimum Education:
As required for certification and licensure
Minimum Experience:
Graduate from Registered Care Practitioner school with license.
Required Courses/Training:
Req. Certification/Licensure: California Respiratory Care Practitioner license (RCP) or
Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
Valid Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
