Responsibilities

This is a full-time night shift position at Arizona General Hospital Laveen. Position will also require staff member to occasionally float to Mesa hospital. 

Assesses, delivers, and documents respiratory care to include pulmonary hygiene and airway management and performs diagnostic exams as necessary. Manages all patients on ventilators and related life support equipment. Performs routine blood gas analysis. Assesses, plans, and evaluates the patient plan of care utilizing multiple respiratory modalities, respiratory therapy driven protocols, and advanced ventilation techniques.

Checks all equipment and respiratory modalities (including invasive and non-invasive), maintains alarms and documents accurately and completely.Performs ABGs utilizing 2 patient identifiers, properly handles blood specimens, reports critical values, and maintains blood gas lab logs (where applicable).Accurately completes patient billing.Correctly charges, labels, scans and discards medications.Prioritizes and completes therapy in a timely manner.Successfully completes all required annual competencies.Performs other duties as assigned.Attends and participates in departmental meetings and in-services.Assists with maintenance and cleaning of equipment and ordering/stocking supplies as needed.Assists in training and orienting new employees, registry, and students, etc as needed.Demonstrates knowledge of and complies with the hospital and departmental practices regarding National Patient Safety Goals, hand hygiene, AIDET, teach back, etc.Cross trains and floats to other areas as needed.Reports observed alterations in the patient's condition to the RN or physician.
Qualifications

Minimum:

Graduate of an AMA Respiratory Therapy Program requiredAZ Board of Respiratory Care Examiners LicenseCertified Respiratory Therapist -CRT from National Board of Respiratory Care; or Registered Respiratory Therapist -RRT American Heart Association Basic Life SupportMust have strong critical thinking and problem solving abilities
