Come join our team at Banner Homecare & Hospice and make a positive difference in the lives of our patients.  Here, you’ll be working alongside of an energetic group of Respiratory Therapists that are passionate about providing exceptional care to our patients, referred to as “our Sofia’s”.  In this exciting and very rewarding field of Homecare, you’ll be providing clinical support educating our Sofia’s on the following equipment:  Pap; ventilator management for non-invasive as well as invasive; oximeters; apnea monitors; air compressor with trach supplies; cough assist; vest therapy; OCD; these are many of the modalities that the clinical team is responsible for. Scheduled Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position independently provides remote/telehealth support for respiratory care to patients and family members with timely and accurate information regarding equipment set ups, operations, trouble shooting, and detailed outline of services to ensure patient satisfaction.

CORE FUNCTIONS

1. Performs remote instruction to patients and/or caregivers on the proper use of certain equipment and/or respiratory care procedures as prescribed by physicians and/or licensed independent practitioners in accordance with established department/hospital policies and procedures.

2. Provides virtual follow-ups for patients and/or caregivers recommending adjustments to improve clinical condition, patient comfort and to expedite the weaning process.
 

3. Troubleshoots and performs adjustments in the applications of durable medical equipment and circuitry used in the delivery of respiratory care and ensures patients and/or caregivers can effectively operate and maintain equipment.

4. Performs patient assessments and evaluates patient response to care provided, making recommendations to physicians regarding the plan of care, appropriate use of respiratory therapy and modification of therapy as clinical condition changes. Documents therapy provided in an accurate and complete manner in accordance with established department/hospital policies and procedures.
 

5. Communicates and collaborates with resource staff in formulating care plans, recommendations for change in therapy and identification/resolution of problems.

6. Independently provides remote support for respiratory care to patients, and when appropriate involves local support and/or consults with referring physician.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associate or technical degree.

Proof of having passed the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). RRT required for all new hires to the position after October 1, 2015. Incumbents in the position as of October 1, 2015 must possess their RRT by October 1, 2017. A current license in state practiced as required by state law. In the state of Nevada, all incumbents must have their Blood Gas Technologist certification.

Banner Registry positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting. Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in the specialty area.


Basic Life Support (BLS) required. In Home Care setting Employees working for Banner Home Care must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. Must be knowledgeable of clinical techniques, applications and equipment as typically obtained through one year of clinical experience.

Must possess highly effective human relation skills necessary to interface with patients, families, staff and other healthcare personnel.
