**Job Summary**
The Supervisor, Respiratory Therapy oversees the daily operations of the Respiratory Therapy department, ensuring adherence to departmental and facility policies, procedures, and protocols. This role is responsible for supervising staff, managing resources, and performing clinical duties as necessary. The Supervisor supports the team in delivering safe and effective respiratory care, provides guidance to staff, and fosters a collaborative environment to achieve departmental goals.
**Essential Functions**
+ Supervises daily operations of the Respiratory Therapy department, including workload assignments, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure effective and efficient patient care.
+ Conducts performance evaluations, assesses staff competencies, and provides ongoing training and development to maintain high standards of clinical practice.
+ Ensures accurate and timely reporting of payroll, monitors departmental budget, and demonstrates fiscal accountability for resources.
+ Maintains knowledge of departmental policies and protocols and enforces compliance among staff to promote safety and quality standards.
+ Performs patient assessments, administers prescribed therapies, and adheres to respiratory protocols to maintain patient comfort and safety.
+ Manages crisis situations and demonstrates sound judgment in ventilator management, airway maintenance, and medication delivery.
+ Acts as a clinical resource for team members, offering guidance and support to ensure adherence to best practices and quality patient care.
+ Communicates and supports the hospital's mission, vision, and values, fostering a positive work environment aligned with departmental goals.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Complies with all policies and standards.
**Qualifications**
+ Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy required
+ Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy preferred
+ 2-4 years of respiratory therapy experience in an acute care hospital setting required
+ 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role preferred
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ In-depth knowledge of respiratory care protocols, equipment, and patient care standards.
+ Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate and guide staff.
+ Proficiency in performing arterial blood gas punctures and other respiratory care procedures.
+ Strong organizational and time-management skills.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Proficiency with computer systems for payroll, scheduling, and charge entry.
**Licenses and Certifications**
+ RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist required
+ RCP - Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner required
+ BCLS - Basic Life Support required
+ ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred
