Role Purpose
Due to an internal promotion we are looking to hire a Financial Lines Major Accounts Segment leader who will be overseeing a team of 3 direct reports in our office based at La Défense.
The Head of Financial Lines France and the Major Account (MA) Segment Leader's ambition is to develop and implement underwriting strategy for France MA to achieve underwriting profit goals in accordance with business plan for both Management Liability and Financial Institutions.
Part of the role is to ensure underwriting integrity through appropriate deployment of underwriting guidelines and controls, consistency of approach towards risk selection, pricing, and use of capacity whilst recognizing market conditions.
The ultimate goal is to act as leader on Financial Lines MA market and drive Business opportunity and retention by getting close to brokers and clients.
Key Responsibilities
Achieving quote and hit rates for New Business.Targeting of account in collaboration with other line of business, MA segment leader and sales teamsEnsure New business pipeline is up to dateReviewing renewal strategy to achieve retention/rate levels per plan and carry out any required underwriting actions. Anticipate and manage the referral process to Local, Regional and COG Underwriting leadership with the aim of obtaining approval without further questions.Ensure the underwriting rationale per account is sound and appropriately documented in the files.Establish and maintain relationships with key broker teams and develop close relationships. Client facing activity to support sales and ensuring that the team carries out its market-facing responsibilities.Actively participate in MA meetings and communicate proactively with Head of Financial Lines regarding key figures and market conditions.Wording management to respect Underwriting guidelines (development, review…) in collaboration with the region and wording specialistsEmbed cross-sell and growth thinking into the team mentality.Implementation and explanation of the underwriting guidelines, drive business strategy and provide guidance to the MA Financial Lines team.Manage a team of underwriters, developing their skills and knowledge, work closely with them on complex accounts. Act as a leader and forge a team mentality to maximise staff retention.Work closely with Head of Financial Lines France, Finance and Ops to ensure forecasting and actuals align as closely as possibleEnsure booking is done in a timely mannerEnsure communication with senior management is effective and smooth (escalation process etc.)Management of strategic accounts in parallel of Team tasksQualifications
Expected to have previous management experience and a considerable market experience from the company and/or broker industry We favor a legal or financial academic background in combination with insurance expertiseComprehensive understanding and working knowledge of specialist product line (combination of management liability and financial institutions is a plus), the insurance market and competitors. Solid experience of dealing with top brokers and Major clients are requiredResults driven with ability to make own decisions and work on own initiativeAn experienced professional who is recognised externally. Experience of leadership, training, mentoring and people developmentFluency in English is required
