Position Description
ERT is seeking a Data Analyst to support NOAA’s Deepwater Horizon (DWH) Program. The selected candidate will assist with data and information management, program coordination, and technical support related to restoration and monitoring projects. This position requires experience in data management, biological sciences, and information coordination to facilitate NOAA’s restoration planning and implementation efforts. Data Management
Assist with the identification and organization of datasets produced by DWH monitoring and restoration projectsWork with project teams to confirm dataset accuracy, develop metadata, and provide documentationSupport project teams in developing data management plans aligned with NOAA policiesProvide data analysis and technical support to enhance NOAA’s DWH data management practicesInformation Management
Assist in managing the DWH Restoration Portal, ensuring accurate and timely project data entryCommunicate data entry requirements and best practices to NOAA and federal/state project managersSupport the DWH Annual Reporting process, including reviewing and providing feedback on project reportsConduct quality control reviews of annual reports submitted by federal and state agencies.Program Support and Coordination
Support the compilation, entry, and management of program budget and planning dataAssist in developing financial documents such as transfer memos and charge code authorizationsTrack and manage project and program plans, schedules, and budgetsRequirements
Two years of specialized experience directly related to the positionKnowledge of biological sciences, marine/coastal ecology, ecological restoration, and/or the Natural Resources Damage Assessment (NRDA) processExperience applying data management tools and processes to support decision-makingProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite, and collaboration tools such as Microsoft SharePointStrong organizational, communication, and coordination skills.Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident who has lived in the United States at least 3 out of the last 5 years and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to access applicable government facilities and systems.Desired
Knowledge of federal data management policies and best practicesExperience managing scientific data, including developing data management plansFamiliarity with Microsoft SharePoint and Google AppsEducation
BA/BS in related field, or equivalent.
Location
This position allows for regular off-site work, with periodic on-site meetings in Silver Spring, MD. Some travel may be required for NOAA-related meetings, workshops, and conferences.
Salary
The salary range for this role is $46,000 - $221,000/year. This range is a good faith estimate based on similar roles across the organization. ERT considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including the location, scope, and associated responsibilities of the specific position, as well as a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
