Department Background:
The Retail Banking [RB] Technology CTO is responsible for providing leadership to the RB Technology aligned Infrastructure, Cloud and DevOps teams whilst ensuring effective Management Technology Controls compliance of RB Technology related services.

The person in this role will be commercially astute, an excellent communicator and able to partner strongly with executive level business stakeholders (Managing Directors and their teams). Proven experience as a CTO in a banking or financial services organization.Ensure that technology teams are well-equipped to deliver high-quality services, providing training and development opportunities where required.Hands on Engineering background and should be able to work in complex environment. Build and maintain the broad and diverse set of skills required to run the RB Technology CTO Practice.DevOps ways of working, Tech stack - Java, Oracle, on-prem and external cloud infrastructure. Strong technical knowledge of relevant technologies and DevOps ways of working.Develop, execute evolve the technology strategy for on-prem and external cloud infrastructure for RB Technology in line with the central CTO strategy.People Manager role with a team size of 15-20 individuals. Collaborate with business leaders and stakeholders to understand their technology needs and translate those needs into actionable technology roadmapsExcellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve their goals.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Strong external vendor management skills and excellent people management skillsAbility to analyze complex technical and business problems and develop effective solutions. Able to manage a variety of senior stakeholder relationships and develop a trusting working relationship with them.Demonstrable success in understanding and delivering towards customer needs in large, global, complex organisations.Ability to work in an unstructured and changing environment. Influence teams to think "outside" the box and look at solutions / approaches outside traditional comfort zones.Good business sense and commercial acumen. Strong drive to get things done and work in an environment with many moving parts but still find a way forward. Ability to continually question and reduce costs.Leading and directing executive and non-executive work groups and effecting change through people. Managing operational functions, directing process re-engineering and efficiency exercises.Strong ability to balance risks vs rewards and maximizing the cost effectiveness and profitability for the business.
