Position Summary:
The Retail Pharmacy Manager oversees all aspects of a retail pharmacy site and operations. This role is responsible for adherence to Mosaic policy and procedures, adherence to state and federal regulations, and directly supervise pharmacists, technicians and clerks. The Retail Pharmacy Manager will be the responsible Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) and follow all Oregon Board of Pharmacy requirements for this designation. The Retail Pharmacy Manager will work directly with Director of Pharmacy Services and Pharmacy Operations Manager to ensure department goals are achieved, assist in daily operational pharmacy duties, monitor training and work with training/compliance team to ensure all training is up to date, and prioritize patient care and patient safety.
Job Responsibilities:
Pharmacy Management
Conduct pharmacy opening and closing activities; either directly, or through delegation to a staff pharmacist. Ensuring that procedures are followed correctly. Represent the pharmacy in all state and federal regulatory audits, visits, and communication. Work with Pharmacy Operations Manager to ensure 340b program policy and procedure is understood and adhered to by pharmacy staff. Assist with writing operational and training procedures and guides. Liaison with the quality department. Maintain compliance with all state and federal regulatory agencies. Assist in documentation and completion of Adverse Drug Event forms or incident reports. Answer clinical questions from health professionals and provide product information. Support order verification within computer order processing queue to ensure facility and product accuracy. Review of all pharmacy reports/records and associated documentation verification. Ensure safe work environments, enforcing operational discipline, and monitoring aseptic behaviors. Efficiently utilize tools and metrics (KPI’s) to monitor staff productivity, deliverables, timelines, and quality of work. Adjust staffing levels and operational processes as needed to ensure operational effectiveness.People Management
Manage performance of the team, conduct monthly meetups and provide real-time and consistent coaching with all direct reports. Ensure accountability of team, including but not limited to adherence with policies, procedures, guidelines, workflows, etc., addressing attendance, performance, and behavior concerns including corrective action if necessary. Consult with Human Resources to support employee relations, performance achievement, training, employee engagement, etc. Hold consistent and timely team meetings to communicate organization, site, and/or department information, changes, initiatives, etc. Obtain leadership approval and manage all recruitment and hiring for team. Provide oversight and support for recruitment/hiring of openings supervised by direct reports. Effectively monitor onboarding of new hires, ensure on-going training and development for all staff. Manage time off requests and approve timecards for direct reports or as delegated and monitor to ensure staff takes required breaks and lunches.Patient Care and Consultation
Process and dispense medications to patients according to prescriptions issued by the medical and dental providers (prescribers). Provide education and professional consultation to patients, families, team members, and prescribers; maintaining open, timely, and professional communication. In collaboration with the care team, use knowledge of the patient and disease states to identify and resolve medication-related issues. Ensure only pharmacists and interns or externs under immediate personal supervision provide professional consultation with patients and prescribers. May participate in Controlled Medication Oversight Committee (CMOC), working with clinical leadership to ensure safe prescribing practices of controlled medications across the organization.Documentation/Indirect patient care
Maintains accurate electronic health records of patients and completes documentation in timely manner. Reflects critical thinking in documentation Reviews clinical staff messages and consults and addresses them in a timely manner. Responds to patient telephone calls and/or MyChart messages in a timely manner. Accurately codes patient charts to ensure correct billing.Who We are:
