Education—
Minimum: High School education or equivalent.Preferred: Completion of formal pharmacy technician training program.Credentials/Licensure—
Minimum: Pharmacy Technician License (issued by Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Bureau of Professional Licensing)Preferred: Certified Pharmacy Technician by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)Related Experience—
Preferred: 2+ years pharmacy work experience in outpatient pharmacy setting; billing experience.Essential Functions—
Prepares, packages, and distributes medication orders per physician/pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations and established policies, procedures, or protocols.Contributes to effective and quality operation of the department.Maintains logs, records, and other required documentation, files documentation.Completes third party adjudication for prescription claims.Utilizes computerized prescription dispensing system to complete the following aspect of filling patient prescriptions:Create patient profiles.Prescription data inputThird party/insurance processingPrescription refillingIncoming and outbound calls with patients, provider teams and third parties.Order packaging and scheduling deliveries.Perform simple pharmaceutical calculations including, but not limited to, days’ supply and weight-based dosing calculations.Collect payments using point-of-sale system.Participate in the training, education, precepting, and evaluation of pharmacy students and/or residents as assigned.Excellent customer service skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Performs other related duties as assigned.Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
