SummaryPerdue is hiring a Retention Supervisor - Night Shift to support our Rockingham, NC facility! The Retention Supervisor is accountable for the establishment and administration of plant specific retention strategies within the region. They are responsible for establishing a working relationship with managers, supervisors and hourly production associates in the processing plant to foster an environment of cooperative progress. Retention accountabilities will focus on both new and senior associates and they will effectively coach and counsel supervision on methods to improve absenteeism & turnover.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities Ensures that all newly hired and senior associates receive an effective and timely responses to all concerns and issues. Schedules, conducts, facilitates, audits, associate retainable programs and identifies new methods to improve all plant retention and attendance at every level. Provides coaching and counseling to supervisory personnel to improve the supervisors’ ability to effectively direct their workforce combined with people solving skills to discourage job abandonment and solid daily attendance. Foster associate/management relations that are built on communication, trust and a strong commitment to the Perdue location that they are employed at. Works cohesively with the Associate Development Specialist and Mentors at each location to ensure attendance levels are above 90% and turnover meets or exceeds the plant FY goals. Works cohesively with the mentor program. Minimum Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree and equivalent experience in Operational Management, Human Resources, Business Administration, and/or Labor Relations plus 5 -6 years related work experience. Proven success in reducing turnover and improving attendance rates. Previous experience in working with production employees in a manufacturing environment, proven experience in problem-solving, previous experience with automated timekeeping, Kronos preferred, previous experience in guiding both senior and new employees of various backgrounds and ethnic differences. Requires an ability to think ahead and plan over a 1 to 3 year time span. Must be able to multi-task and organize multiple protocols and projects and completed on schedule. Requires strong analytical skills, analyze and resolve problems at both a strategic and functional level. Must have knowledge of and ability to provide strong customer orientation along with the ability to communicate to all levels of the organization and a commitment to excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Requires knowledge of and a commitment to team performance, effective coaching and demonstrated skills of a strong team player. Experience Preferred Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements1. Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings. 2. When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces. May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity. May handle product 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db. to 110 db. May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facility. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company.
