Franklin Templeton is hiring an experienced Retirement Benefits Consultant to join the Global Talent Management – HR Benefits team within Human Resources. The team is responsible for executing the administration and design of employee benefits with a consistent philosophy and governance model across 37 countries. Work location will be Baltimore, MD (preferred) but candidates in other geographic locations may be considered.

Position Summary:  

The Retirement Benefits Consultant is responsible for overseeing the administration of Franklin Templeton’s 401(k) retirement plan. Responsibilities also include coordination and oversight of Financial Wellness programs, partnering with our Health & Welfare Benefits and Compensation teams, and consultative oversight of employee Retirement Plans in Latin America.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan Administration: Oversee operations of the 401(k) plan, including participant enrollment, contributions, distributions, and loans.

Compliance and Governance: Partner with the plan’s recordkeeper, ERISA counsel, and auditor to ensure compliance with regulations and non-discrimination testing for the Plan and the Franklin Templeton Controlled Group of companies. 

Employee Support: manage resolution of employee/participant inquiries that are escalated from the HR Shared Services team and/or the plan’s recordkeeper.

Financial Wellness: coordinate with partners to curate resources to support the financial well-being of employees, in alignment with the firm’s global well-being strategy.

Reporting: Prepare reports on plan performance, participation rates, and other metrics to senior management.

Plan Design: Assist in the review of plan design to ensure it meets the objectives of participants and the company.

Americas Retirement Oversight: Collaborate with internal partners to ensure plan governance and administration for Retirement Plans offered in the Bahamas and Latin America.

Ideal Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree, preferably in finance, human resources, or a related field

3+ years of experience in 401(k) plan administration or a similar role

Strong knowledge of 401(k) related ERISA and IRS regulations

Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) or similar designation preferred

Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to multi-task and work independently

Ability to build working relationships with colleagues

Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (e.g. Workday)

Proficiency in data analysis with plan and participant data, such as use of vlookup in Excel

Compensation Range: Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. We expect the base salary for this position to be $85,000 to $108,000 USD.
