Job Description

As a Returns Trading Manager, you will support the Head of Returns in delivering the ASOS annual returns targets. You will work alongside the Returns Programme Manager to help identify and develop multiple initiatives across customer, product, digital product, and policy enforcement, aimed at improving the customer return’s experience and the underlying profitability of returns. Additionally, you will work closely with our Finance and Global Trading teams with the delivery of annual planning process related to returns. This includes identifying risks and opportunities to budget by analysing weekly and monthly returns performance and recommending short-term operational actions.

You will be responsible for conducting proactive & ad-hoc analysis against under/over-performing returns KPIs across multiple markets with consideration to historical KPI data will be part of your role. Ensuring that the returns phasing is aligned with the trading calendar and regional variances is crucial.

Your role will involve analysing profit per order across multiple markets, identifying areas of focus, and working with global trading and pricing teams to drive strategies and trading decisions related to returns. You will also analyse and optimise the returns proposition by market to ensure profitability and reduce the returns rate. Influencing the testing of new propositions and providing insight and recommendations into the local market and competitors, including analysis of the returns proposition of our key competitors and understanding the gaps, will be essential.

Staying up to date with regional innovation in ecommerce, online fashion retailing, and logistics, and how this could be impacting returns performance, is important. You will ensure the overall team is working collaboratively, driving results and engagement at all levels through clarity of plan and direction. Working with digital product teams to develop and deliver a roadmap of returns-related initiatives aimed at reducing the rate and cost of returns, and governing a programme of initiatives with physical product teams aimed at reducing fabric, quality, and fit-related returns, will be part of your responsibilities.

You will collaborate with Finance to ensure alignment on financial goals and budget considerations, manage multiple stakeholders across various functions and levels, including up to CEO level.  Creating and distributing insight which identifies and recommends options & opportunities for improvement. Additionally, you will collaborate with AI teams on returns forecasting tooling and manage a small team while being prepared to work autonomously.

Qualifications

We’d love to meet someone who:

You are pro-active and commercial with a strong bias for action. You have strong knowledge of what good customer experience looks like amongst ecommerce KPIs and how they impact returns performance, and previous experience in ecommerce/ retail, particularly in managing returns. You are capable of working in a fast-moving and ever-changing context, able to deal with ambiguity and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. You have the ability to spot issues, identify gaps, and provide recommendations to solve them. You are detail-oriented and analytical, enjoying teasing insight out of spreadsheets while being able to detect patterns and tie them to bigger issues. You are comfortable working in global organisations with geographically dispersed and culturally diverse workforce, and are prepared to work autonomously at times. You have strong technical skills, including report writing, presentation skills, , and experience with data analysis tools.

You possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. You have strong organizational and time management skills, adaptability and flexibility in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders at all levels.
