Revenue Accountant
Location: Delhi, NY Category: Staff Posted On: Mon Dec 9 2024 Job Description: The Revenue Accountant will oversee and manage the College's accounting functions, ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting, effective management of revenue collections, and seamless collaboration across departments. This role involves maintaining official accounting records, preparing key financial reports, and supporting the development and integration of financial systems. Key Responsibilities: + Supervise and manage the College's overall accounting operations, ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulations. + Prepare and submit comprehensive financial reports to ensure compliance with SUNY, the Office of the State Comptroller (OSC), and New York State (NYS) requirements, including URAS financial reports. + Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records for all funds, ensuring the integrity and transparency of financial data. + Oversee the proper distribution of revenue collections in accordance with SUNY policies, and provide assistance in adjusting and monitoring various account balances. + Support the preparation of financial projections, including SUIF and DIFR revenue forecasts and variance analysis reports. + Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and ensure compliance with OSC regulations related to stale-dated check processing. + Prepare and submit campus quarterly sales tax and occupancy tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant tax laws. + Collaborate effectively with staff, administrators, and external partners, including other campuses and System Administration, on accounting and financial matters. + Work closely with Student Financial Services and CIS staff to maintain and enhance Banner software systems, including managing finance applications, establishing new detail codes, testing software upgrades, and implementing new applications. + Stay informed on College policies and procedures; proactively recommend improvements or adjustments as needed to ensure operational efficiency and compliance. + Represent the campus at SUNY Business Officer's ABB committee meetings and SICAS Student Accounts/General Ledger FAUG meetings, offering expertise on financial matters. + Serve on various campus committees as requested, providing financial insight and support. + In conjunction with Leadership, design and implement operating strategies. + Supervise the Bursar position, providing guidance and oversight while also serving as a dotted line leader to related positions within the department. Job Requirements: + BS degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field from an accredited institution. + 3-5 years of experience in a financial role. + Advanced Microsoft Office Skills (Word, Excel, Power Point) + Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally + High level of attention to detail, organization, project management skills, and possess analytical skills Preferred Qualifications: + Experience with Banner and Argos + SUNY or NYS Finance Experience in the areas of Accounting, Budgeting, Procurement and/or Student Financial Services + Certified Public Accountant + Masters Degree in business, accounting or another related field + Managerial and Project Management Skills Additional Information: + Salary: $85,000 + Reports to: Director of Business Affairs + This is a 12 month position + Budget Title: Staff Associate, SL4 + This position offers full New York State benefits: UUP (FT) (https://www.suny.edu/media/suny/content-assets/documents/benefits/benefit-summaries/FTUUPbenefitsummary-June-2024.pdf) which are among the most comprehensive in the country. + SUNY Delhi has a strong commitment to Affirmative Action and Cultural Diversity.
