About this roleUdemy is seeking a Revenue Accountant role, based out of Mexico City, reporting directly to the Revenue Accounting Manager. You are a key member of the order to cash accounting team’s function to support the month-end close. You also work cross functionally with the sales and deal desk team to support sales motion. You are excited to see and implement process changes as Udemy grows as a business and we in accounting support those initiatives. Lastly, you have fun doing revenue and understand everyday will have challenges and we get through these hurdles as a team and celebrate the wins!
About your skills:
Revenue Accounting savvy: You understand ASC 606 and SaaS revenue holistically and the key fundamentals. You are able read a subscription revenue contract and identify the key accounting issues within the terms and conditions. You understand the concept of stand-alone selling price and the allocation of revenue between multiple performance obligation arrangements. Accounting System guru: You are experienced with Netsuite Advanced Revenue Module. You understand how to process revenue transactions in Netsuite. You understand how to reconcile revenue transactions from our subledger to general ledger in Netsuite. Communication: You raise your hands when you need help, find an issue or want to bounce ideas off. You understand accounting is not just an Excel spreadsheet and reconciliation. The key to success in our role at Udemy is to communicate, to ask questions and to work with all parts of the organization. Team Player: You understand that our work and responsibility in the company is fluid and not static. We put up projects and tasks to get to the next level as a team. We put in extra effort to support a launch of a new product or process. We also celebrate and take a moment to enjoy what we achieved as a team. What you'll be doing You review SaaS revenue contracts day to day in Salesforce to identify key accounting issues that need to be addressed and accounted for under ASC 606. You process these revenue contracts in our accounting system (Netsuite) to properly allocate revenue between our different product offerings using stand-alone selling price (SSP). You work closely with the billings and collections team within the order to cash organization to resolve any revenue issues such as credit memos, invoices and bad debt items. You are in charge of booking revenue entries during the month-end for all the contracts that were reviewed and reconcile our revenue subledgers. You investigate the revenue differences identified through our reconciliation process and understand the root cause for those differences and resolve them. During quarter-ends, you support and engage with our external auditors to pull samples and answer questions. You work cross functionally with the sales and deal desk to answer questions and support sales motion for pipline deals. You assist with ad-hoc process improvement projects for revenue to automate our existing process and level up our revenue team. What You'll Have An Accounting degree with experiences that specialize in SaaS ASC 606 revenue.
