Surgical Notes, a Surgical Information Systems Company, is seeking a Insurance Verification Specialist to assist with insurance verification, authorization, and pre-service patient communication for all carrier types while registering patients and advising patients of financial responsibility.
Verify all insurance coverages; including commercial, workers' compensation, auto, and Medicare/Medicaid Identify patient primary, secondary and tertiary insurance coverage if available Contact each health plan to verify coverage, eligibility, authorization requirements and patient share of cost Verify plan selected in Patient Accounting System matches plan type based on information provided by the insurance company Communicate financial responsibility to patient and make arrangements to pay amount due prior to service Obtain authorizations as needed Obtain demographics/insurance information from Ambulatory Surgical Centers/Doctors office Patient registration (enter information into system) Verify insurance with appropriate payor(s) Enter all insurance information into system Enter patient notes if applicable Provide admitting clerk with up-front money to be collected Scanning Ability to solve problems associated with tasks Nothing in this job description restricts management’s right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
Minimum of 1 year experience working with a healthcare provider Experience working in medical office insurance verification required Knowledge of computers and Windows-driven software (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook) Excellent command of written and spoken English Strong attention to detail and speed while working within tight deadlines Exceptional ability to follow oral and written instructions
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS DESIRED:
Experience working in an Ancillary/Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) A working knowledge of IPAs and health plans is required. Patient financial counseling a plus
